THE BACKGROUND

This coast has been experiencing severe erosion due to the violent action of the ocean waves.From the past data collection, it is observed that the erosion rate is assessed to be of the order of about 0.4 m/year.

THE IMPLEMENTATION

Based on the numerical modeling, a groin field with 6 groins were finalised as protection measure and executed. Due to this measure, beach of width of about 100m in between the groins have formed and stabilised. The groin field is serving not only as a coastal protection measure for the coast of areas but also act as mini fishing harbour by bending one of the groin.
